Preston Farm

Location: Mole Valley District
Client: Thakeham
Size/Use: Up to 265 new homes; 1,590sqm of employment floorspace; large areas of open space including lakes

Preston Farm is a private and secluded area within the Green Belt of grazing pasture, woodland and lakes, adjacent to Bookham's western edge and a small area of brownfield land within the settlement boundary and Conservation Area. Appointed by Thakeham to initially advise on the development potential of the site, CODE continued to advise on the strategy for promoting the site through the various planning processes including the Bookham Neighbourhood Development Plan.

CODE led a multi-disciplinary team in the preparation of information to assist Bookham Neighbourhood Forum, Mole Valley District Council and other stakeholders in their understanding of the issues experienced in the areas surrounding the site and to demonstrate how these issues could be resolved through proposals for the site. Extensive stakeholder engagement was undertaken with the proposals evolving as a result of feedback from the engagement events.

Capability Statement

"We have used CODE Development Planners as our chosen planning consultants on a highly contentious public promotion of a sizeable Green Belt site. Their expertise in liaising with stakeholders, consultant team, local planning authority and district councillors has meant we have received substantial community support as the project progresses. Their expert steering and guidance of the project team through the process has been invaluable."

Robert Boughton, Managing Director Thakeham
