Size/Use: 4,000 home new garden village on c224 hectares of green belt land and golf course
CODE led the multi-disciplinary team and worked in close partnership with Brentwood Council officers and councillors to achieve an allocation of the site and satisfactory policy wording in the submitted version of the borough local plan. The site is recommended to be deleted from the green belt and is identified in the plan to accommodate approximately 60% of the borough’s housing growth within the plan period.
The site’s allocation required extensive examination of reasonable alternative sites, green belt impact, landscape, highway and ecology mitigation.
The site is identified by the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) for Garden Village status and funding.
